After 7 days of desperate worry, this family felt indescribable joy when their missing dog suddenly turned up!

Little Brownie is a much-loved pooch. So when he mysteriously disappeared, his family went to pieces. They moved heaven and earth to find him, without success. And then one day, to the surprise of his family, he suddenly turned up. And the joyful moment was captured by their home surveillance camera!

They searched high and low

Steven Beltran and his family live in Colombia. They're dog lovers and currently have 3. But one day, one of them, Brownie, vanished into thin air. He disappeared like a puff of smoke.

His family immediately set out to find him. For 7 days, they gave it all they could. They put up posters with the dog's photos and offered a reward for his safe return. The whole episode left them physically and psychologically worn out.

“There were days of searching, days we didn't sleep, days we didn't eat,” Steven told The Dodo. “All we could do was think of Brownie.”

And then a week later...

While the search didn't lead to anything, Brownie clearly wanted to return home. After 7 days, he finally found his way back and the Beltrans' surveillance cameras filmed everything.

The camera is aimed at their closed gate. In the background, you can see moving traffic. Little Brownie suddenly appears and manages to squeeze through the narrow gap under the gate.

Moments later, off camera, you can hear cries of joy as the family reunites with their pet. Everyone keeps repeating the dog's name while examining the gate to figure out how the dog got back in.

It's a real celebratory moment. The family hugs each other, shouts, jumps for joy and smothers Brownie with attention. Even the other 2 dogs in the house join in with the good news. It's a moving video, and you check it out below:

“So thankful he found his way home. He was a bit tired, quite thirsty and very hungry,” Steven said. “I can't imagine what he went through during those seven days when he was missing. Now we're spoiling him rotten!”

Over 3 pounds... That was the weight of the excess fur removed from a Shih Tzu whose eyes were covered by its out-of-control coat. Fortunately, a charity came to his rescue.

Some dogs require special care and maintenance when it comes to their coat. This is the case of the Shih Tzu, a dog that needs regular brushing and grooming. If not, their fur will get matted and the dog will suffer in numerous ways. This is what happened to Jack, a chrysanthemum dog living in Accrington in Lancashire (England), as reported by The Mirror.

His owner, who had adopted him 6 years earlier, was going through hard times and was unable to properly groom their four-legged friend. Someone aware of the situation was concerned for Jack 's well-being and contacted the local RSPCA.

Emma Dingley, one of the charity's investigators, visited the owner's home and saw what a bad state the 9-year-old Shih Tzu was in.

His fur was so long and neglected that it covered his eyes, meaning he could no longer see. It also affected his ability to move. Something needed to be done ASAP.

The dog's owner let Emma Dingley take the pooch to the RSPCA's veterinary clinic, the Greater Manchester Animal Hospital. There, staff spent two and a half hours cutting off excess fur, which weighed over 3 pounds.

The veterinarians could then examine the dog. Fortunately, Jack was in very good health. He was obviously happy and relieved to be relieved of such a burden. He was lighter, could move freely and see clearly.

Jules had to leave his old home and stay at a shelter, but it wasn't long before he returned to family life. Despite his age, this dog was still bounding with energy and full of love, ready to start a new chapter in his life.

Older dogs living in shelters generally have a harder time finding a family than their younger counterparts. Fortunately, this was not the case for Jules, whose time in the shelter didn't last long. His charm and help from the French charity, Fondation 30 Millions d’Amis meant he met a loving family pretty quickly.

Despite being deaf and 13 years old, this adorable Golden Retriever is in great shape. And he's now enjoying life with Marie and Loïc, and more recently their newborn daughter Lucile.

Jules previously had a loving family, but sadly his owner was unable to keep him. He took the dog to the Gerbey shelter in Chonas-l'Amballan, Isère, France.

Shortly after his arrival, potential adopters began to come forward. The popularity of his race and his playful personality meant his age didn't bother anyone. 'Opération Doyen' run by Fondation 30 Millions d’Amis was also instrumental in speeding up Jules's adoption. This initiative helps dogs aged 10 and over to find families, in particular by reimbursing veterinary expenses to the tune of 600 euros.

In the end, Marie and her husband Loïc were selected. Jules moved into his new home in September 2021 and quickly settled in. As soon as he arrived, he “found where his sofa was,” says his owner.

An endearing personality

The couple quickly saw how much joy he would bring to them. He does so by cuddling up – “a real pot of glue”, says Marie – and by his affectionate behavior, his playful side and even a puppy attitude that comes out from time to time. Jules is, indeed, a canine with a huge personality, from being a bit impatient at times to being very playful.

Teddy is a unique cat... He suffers from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which means he has a sad and old-looking face. But the moment he was taken in by a shelter, it became clear he had a lot of love to give!

Tara Kay is the founder of the Odd Cat Sanctuary, based in Massachusetts, USA. One day, one of the volunteers told her he had found a litter of kittens. Among them was Teddy.

Teddy immediately stood out because of his odd appearance. The young kitten was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a genetic illness that affects the body's collagen production.

As a result, his skin and ligaments are very fragile, lacking in elasticity and strength. In Teddy's case, his skin droops and needs a lot of attention. Tara told Love Meow: "His skin is very thin and can easily tear. He needs a lot of special care."

But she didn't think twice about helping him.

Teddy is now being treated for his condition. The quality of his skin is improving and getting stronger. This lovely 5-month-old kitten also showed off his purr as soon as he arrived at the shelter: "He purred all the time. He cuddled up, rolled over, so he could get tummy tickles and just loved being around people,” Tara continued.

A veterinarian saddened that he had to euthanize a dog sends a touching letter to the family

Veterinarians treat all sorts of animals for all sorts of reasons on a daily basis. But that doesn't mean they aren't emotionally affected, despite being "used to" their jobs.

When a pet falls seriously ill, some heartbreaking decisions have to be taken; the loss of a much-loved pet can be devastating and take a long time to process.

The family of a 10-year-old male Labrador felt this pain when their beloved dog had to be euthanized. And yet, afterwards, their sorrow was alleviated a bit by the caring veterinarian who put their dog to sleep. The Mirror published an article on this touching tale.

Kind words

The veterinarian took the time to send the family a lovely poem. Set on a white background, it reads:

The tide recedes but leaves behind

Bright seashells on the sand.

The sun goes down, but gentle

Warmth still lingers on the land.

The music stops but echoes on in

Sweet soulful refrains.

For every joy that passes, something

Beautiful remains

A paw print concludes the message, as if signed by their much-missed pet.

These poignant lines moved users to tears when they were shared on Reddit. Many showed their support in the comments: "I am amazed at how thoughtful and touching this gesture is. But the pawprint made me sad." and "Thank you for making an adult man cry." Others recount their personal experiences in long, moving comments.

This veterinarian's note adds a human touch to the sad process of euthanasia, which can be very hard for pet owners to deal with. Thanks to this caring gesture, the veterinarian helped the family move on.

An elderly Rottweiler used for dog training classes was about to have her life transformed

A simple encounter can lead to amazing results. When Sandrine took part in a dog training course, she never imagined she'd find her four-legged soul mate.

Eden was 10 years old. She was an impressive female Rottweiler who weighed almost 90lbs. The only life she knew was the kennel where she was born. Every year, she'd spend a few months at a dog training program helping future dog trainers learn their skills. And it was during one session that she found her forever home.

Sandrine Pubert wanted to become a dog trainer. So, in 2019, she went to a dog training center in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France where she met Eden. She told Woopets, "Between sessions, the dog would just sit or lie in her kennel. Despite her size, I found she had a really gentle look about her."

She quickly became attached to the dog, and when her training ended, she realized that something was wrong with Eden: "At the end of the training, she appeared unwell and it worried me. A few days later, an abscess in her thigh appeared." This health problem was the decisive factor for Sandrine. She decided it was time to change this old dog's fate.

“She helped my husband and me so much during the training course.”

Accompanied by her husband, Sandrine took the necessary steps to adopt Eden. The kennel farmer agreed to give her the dog, who quickly settled into her new home. It was the happiest of endings for a dog that had never lived in a loving home: "From that day on, Eden never left me, she was always at my side. I felt that I had become very important to her," her new owner explains.

Even better, the Rottweiler now had 2 other four-legged friends to help her settle in. Eden loved her new life, from forest walks to playing on the beach.

Unfortunately, she began to have health problems. She had lots of checkups at the veterinarians, which sadly showed a tumor in one of her kidneys. One day, two years after her adoption, Eden collapsed and passed over the rainbow bridge.

Sandrine said she had never "felt such a void" before. The two had a real bond that she will never forget.

Since this painful ordeal, the family has slowly gotten over their loss, largely thanks to Keko, a puppy they adopted last July. But they will never forget the wonderful Eden.

At the end of 2021, Yogi's owner discovered he had a malignant tumor. He had mouth cancer, and it had spread across his muzzle. The vets had no choice but to cut the tumor out.

Anna Gaughan is Yogi's owner. Last year, a worrying lump began to grow on the 11-year-old Border Terrier's face. Anna knew it needed checking out. She is also a veterinarian, so immediately realized something was very wrong with her dog.

As she said to Metro: "I sent Yogi's initial reports to specialist veterinarians, and they confirmed that Yogi had a very rare and aggressive type of mouth cancer."

A more precise diagnosis followed. The dog was suffering from fibrosarcoma of the upper jaw, and it had reached an advanced stage. His condition rapidly deteriorated. A veterinary dentist explained that "Yogi's tumor was large and had spread into his upper jaw. Tomography imaging then revealed it had also invaded the tissue around his nose."

A ray of hope

Faced with the tumor's rapid growth and spread, the specialists said there was some hope left in order to save Yogi: "We knew that the only way to remove the cancer was to resect all the affected tissues, including the nose," explained the dentist.

Anna agreed to the operation, which consisted of removing Yogi's muzzle.

When the little dog woke up at the Eastcott Veterinary Referrals clinic in Swindon, England, he was very frail and his face had, obviously, been radically altered. It was also hard for his owner to witness.

However, after a few weeks, the dog fully recovered and was soon back to his happy, playful self! The operation had been a success. Yogi no longer has any traces of cancer in his body, and his recovery went smoothly. He regained all his energy now that his body wasn't battling cancer.

And his odd appearance didn't matter, Anna was just delighted that her faithful companion was back to his old, energetic self. Owner and pet can now look forward to a fun-filled future!

Jessica Cowan lives with her cat, Jeffrey, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Over the course of a few weeks, she noticed the 10-year-old animal was putting on weight, and for good reason too: he had found another source of food.

Jessica told the Daily Star that she'd had Jeffrey for nine years, after adopting him from a shelter in Leith, Scotland. Back then, the young cat had been left at a shelter as he couldn't handle living in his former owner's apartment block. So she took him home.

Recently, Jeffrey got quite skinny. Jessica took him to the veterinarian's, where he had a blood test and was given antibiotics.

Once the meds kicked in, the cat began to put on weight. But a little too much for that to be an explanation. It was only on the day he came home with a note hanging around his neck that Jessica realized what had been going on.

Jessica saw Jeffrey arrive home wearing a new collar. "He came home Monday afternoon with a little note wrapped around his 'new' collar. I got scared and I yelled at my mom and dad because I thought I'd let the wrong cat into the house.” she wrote.

Yet when she picked up the cat, she realized it was hers and began to laugh when she read the note: "Hi. Does this cat have an owner? He comes to me every day to eat, talk, drink and sleep. What happened to the right side of his chest? Is he okay? Lots of love."

The note was signed by Kriss, who is none other than Jessica's neighbor. Jeffrey had been visiting him every day and Kriss had been feeding him, not knowing if he already had a home.

Kate didn't understand why her senior cat Oggy suddenly wanted to snuggle up against her chest. It was only a few months later, when she went to the doctor, that she realized that the animal had picked up on a serious illness that was lurking in her body.

Oggy is a lovely black and white cat, adopted from a shelter by Kate King-Scribbins and her husband. The couple live in Minnesota with another cat, a Maine Coon named Lulu, and a female Labrador Retriever cross called Abby. They also used to have a dog named Max, but he had recently passed away.

Kate King-Scribbins' 3 pets are seniors, and Oggy is the oldest. He was 15 years old when he realized that his owner was seriously ill, even though she had no idea, reports Bored Panda.

Oggy had always been very cuddly, but he suddenly became really clingy and would cuddle up against the left side of his owner's chest while purring away. Every time she tried to move the feline, he would go straight back to that particular part of her body. This weird behavior continued for months.

One morning, she was awakened by a terrible pain. As she works in the medical field, she quickly checked the area and suddenly felt a lump on her left breast. It was right where Oggy would snuggle. She went to the doctor, and the diagnosis was Stage 3 breast cancer.

Kate King-Scribbins underwent extensive treatment including chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. A difficult period during which the comfort of having her pets was invaluable. Their presence also helped her fight against her illness. She couldn't bear the thought of leaving them behind.

Sometimes life's circumstances and health problems force people to make difficult decisions. After suffering a stroke, Trevor Morris had to give away his dog when he moved into sheltered accommodation. A decision that upset him greatly.

Trevor Morris was 70 when he suddenly suffered a stroke. It meant he needed to go and live in sheltered accommodation. Unable to keep his 13-year-old dog, Missy, it was with a heavy heart that he entrusted her to his daughter. But barely four months later, the female Lhasa Apso died. An even more painful experience for Trevor to endure.

Missy was everything to Trevor. She was his friend and support on a daily basis. “She was with me all day, she was part of the family, she was like my child and I felt lost without her. I felt terrible when I was separated from her," Trevor told Wales Online. “I felt like I needed contact with a dog again. My daughter has dogs and I just find them very therapeutic.”

A charity called Cariad Pet Therapy came to the rescue. It's a group of volunteers with therapy dogs who visit people in need. They visit schools, nursing homes, hospitals and businesses.

Cariad Pet Therapy met Trevor and brought along a German Shepherd named Asha. The pensioner was able to enjoy a walk with his new friend.

Three kittens were found badly injured by a wild animal. Only one survived. He battled to stay alive and grew up to be a very handsome Siamese cat.

Mendel was found in a woman's garden, along with two other kittens. Their mother wasn't to be seen, and these tiny kittens had been attacked and bitten by a wild animal. “A panicked woman knocked on the door asking for help,” explains Kara Yancey of Sun Cities 4 Paws shelter to Love Meow. "I ran out to the parking lot to find she had three little kittens wrapped up. They were badly injured." It was very early, and the shelter was closed, but given the urgency of the situation, Kara immediately intervened.

2 of the kittens were fatally wounded

Mendel clung to life

Mendel, too, had been wounded. He had been bitten on his hind legs. But that didn't stop him from fighting like a warrior and clinging to life. He began to gain weight, and systematically asked to be fed. "Every few hours, my alarm sounded, and I'd see this curious little face in the incubator window looking at me as if to say, 'Where is my bottle?'", continues Kara.

When Mendel reached the age when he could join the other felines, he struggled to play with them. His leg injuries prevented him from moving around properly. But Mendel battled against the odds until he was able to run and jump like the others.

Markings began to appear on Mendel's coat

As he grew up, Siamese markings began to appear on Mendel's white coat. "He turned into a beautiful Siamese cat and left his foster family to join the "big kittens" room in the shelter, where he was promptly adopted by a wonderful couple," says Kara.

Today, Mendel is very happily settled with his new family, to whom he brings just as much joy.

An anxious dog turned into a kleptomaniac and began to steal its owner's pillow every day (video)

Lots of dog owners are forced to hide their belongings to avoid them being destroyed. From clothes to shoes, our furry friends sure like to grab things that are not theirs. Yet, these behaviors, when repetitive, can reveal disorders.

Amos lives with Melissa Pearce in Brisbane (Australia). He is an 8-year-old Catahoula Leopard and Beagle mix, and has nearly 73,000 followers on Instagram and 563,000 on TikTok.

His popularity is down to one particular reason: he's a kleptomaniac.

His owner has filmed and posted numerous videos, usually when he's caught red-handed stealing his favorite object... A pillow! The Dodo shared some of videos:

In this hilarious compilation, Amos appears with a pillow in his mouth, which he then takes outside. He does this every day. Melissa writes, "Amos has always been a thief. The list of things he stole is so long that I can't even bother to write it down. "

Even though the videos will make you smile, there is a more serious reason for this behavior: Amos suffers from terrible anxiety. For him, grabbing a pillow is reassuring.

His stress is all the more visible when he has to walk down the hallway, which for some reason terrifies him. His owner continues, "The pillow snatching only started when he suddenly became scared of the hallway". She says the pillows are emotional support for him.

Thanks to perseverance and exercises, this fearful pooch is calming down and becoming more confident! He also attends sessions with a dog trainer, who's helping him overcome his fears.
