15 strange photos unveiled by Google Maps
When looking for directions to a specific location or simply to check out your surroundings, Google Maps is the perfect tool. The most curious people spend valuable time using this tool and sometimes they discover some very strange things. Even the greatest detectives might not be able to solve some of these mysteries!
Here are 14 totally crazy pictures, discovered on Google Maps and captured just for you. Although some of them can be explained with science, the others are still a mystery.
1. The Coca-Cola logo on a mountain
Composed of 70,000 Coca-Cola bottles, the brand’s largest logo in the world was set up on the slope of a mountain near Arica City, Chile. This "sculpture" celebrated the soft drink’s 100-year anniversary.
2. A mysterious pyramid discovered in Antarctica
Is it the work of an ancient civilization? For now, no one is able to answer this question. The pyramid is buried under the snow and the 3rd Reich seems to have been very interested in this part of the world. Their technological advance during the Second World War could explain some things according to the ancient astronaut theory. But another explanation could that it’s part of the legendary Atlantis...
3. A cruise ship among skyscrapers
There is no doubt that there is a boat in the middle of the city of Hong Kong. But what is it doing there?! There’s no sea or body of water around. It turns out that this boat is nothing but a shopping center! It looks especially beautiful at night when all the lights are on.
4. The footprint of a giant
In reality, this giant’s footprint is really just a maze. It is the longest one in England and can be found in the county of Hampshire.
5. Gulliver, tied down to the roof of a building
Valencia, Spain, is home to the most surprising playground in the world. It is actually a real playground that puts children in Gulliver’s world. Children can view images of him, find secret passages, etc., all while their parents watch from a large bench. From above, you see Gulliver and it looks like a miniature amusement park.
6. Don’t like your neighbor? Let the world know!
In 2009, these two neighbors were fighting and couldn’t resolve their differences. So one of them decided to get revenge: he mowed "AHOLE" into a field with an arrow pointing toward his neighbor’s house. Of course, you can only see it from the sky...
7. A cat straight from outer space
Cats are sacred in many civilizations. This geoglyph was made more than 9,000 years ago and can be found in the middle of the Atacama Desert. There’s something very rare about this place: it hasn’t rained there for centuries. What should we know about this drawing that’s only visible from the sky? Who is it talking to? What’s he hiding? No one knows how to answer these questions...
8. An airplane cemetery or a billionaire’s parking spot?
Neither! Near Belgrade airport there is an aviation museum. And you can find various aircraft models there: from very old to the latest models. Visitors can walk right up to them, and see them from every angle. In total, 200 planes amaze tourists and enthusiasts, with a few bonuses: the American Stealth bomber (or at least some fragments of it) and an F-16 Fighting Falcon.
9. A salt factory that looks like a microscope slide
What you see is actually a small village in Niger, home to around fifty families. This village makes its living mainly from the extraction of salt. The alveoli that you may notice are just mud ponds. In reality, it is a special clay that contains salt. The water is drained and filtered, and salt crystals appear when the water evaporates.
10. A Turkish flag in Cyprus
On one of the slopes in the Kyrenia Mountains, there is a giant image of the flag of the Turkish Republic. This is accompanied by the motto "How happy is the one who says I am a Turk!", an emblematic phrase spoken by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk during the 10th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.
11. A flying saucer?
This curious construction is not a flying saucer, but a local attraction in Texas. It’s actually a Futuro House, designed and built by Matti Suuronen, a Finnish architect in the 1960s. Only 30 Futuro Houses were built around the world and represent the dreams of people who love futuristic technology.

13. A floating man in Australia
On the Australian Gold Coast, there’s a nice man who is visible even from space. This is a children's playground. While swimming, they can enjoy attractions and other water games.
14. A giant crab
This image captured on Google Maps immediately went viral and was been shared thousands of times. Indeed, it isn’t common to see a giant crab so close to the shore in Whistable, Kent, England. It was thought to be 50 feet wide and was named "Crabzilla."
15. Google's secret base on Mars
There is a mysterious space base with the image of Google, in the middle of an huge desert. This building was very popular, leaving room for various theories: a Martian base, a bunker, etc. On closer inspection, we realize that this is really just an ordinary Google data center.
